Delta Lambda Phi’s National Service Project: “Be Safe – Educate!”
Chapters are encouraged to provide safer-sex education in their communities, either through educating and certifying their members to do outreach in the community or by sponsoring other organizations to provide this education and outreach.
What does service mean to Delta Lambda Phi?
Service projects include a wide variety of activities, and are designed to benefit others in the community. In Delta Lambda Phi, chapters are encouraged to perform community service projects with these three principles in mind:
- Pride: Projects should boost human awareness and visibility, creating a more prideful community.
- Personal Growth: Projects should facilitate development and awareness of a Brother’s character, leadership, duty, compassion, and honor.
- Brotherhood: Projects should create a supportive bond of friendship and family. Brotherhood is fun, constructive, accepting, and proud.
Why does Delta Lambda Phi care about community service?
Although Delta Lambda Phi is a social fraternity, we (like most national social fraternities) encourage Brothers and chapters to participate in philanthropic projects. Among the reasons Delta Lambda Phi finds service projects beneficial are:

- Gaining project management and leadership skills in planning projects

- Helping chapters “get over the small stuff” — (Service projects make us all feel good and, suddenly, points of difference that can cause conflict become less important.)

In short, community service projects help chapters and Brothers stay inspired and cohesive. They open doors of opportunity for individuals, as well as help showcase the character of the Brothers of Delta Lambda Phi, which helps attract quality members to the Fraternity while making a difference in their communities.
